Materials for Digital Imaging

Our digital printer is practically capable of printing on any coated or “uncoated” material! We can directly print on Vinyl with or without adhesive-backing, Banner, Back/Front-Lit Film, Mesh (Perforated), Magnetic, Reflective, Fine Art Papers, Artist's Canvas, PET Film, Matte, Semi-Gloss or Gloss Papers, Tyvek®, Polysilk Cloth and various more material. All our print jobs are completed on our High Speed, Precision FULL SIX Colour Digital Image Printer. Our technology allows us to produce up to 1440x720 high-resolution graphics for both INDOOR and OUTDOOR applications. This means any image and your imagination can be replicated directly onto the material of your choice! This is the way of the FUTURE!

Standard Printing Material

A. Bond Paper 150g (comes in many varieties including coloured); generally appears cheap. This product is heavyweight and affordable, and is an excellent choice for inexpensive colour graphics applications including posters, point of purchase displays, trade show and board room graphics. The high opacity and exceptional white point, along with this product's ability to handle heavy ink load, assure a reasonable quality reproduction. When Laminated or Encapsulated, this premium matte product can be made to look superior with little loss in image quality.

B. Photobase Papers:

1. Glossy (really looks good under some circumstances, but is very shiny and reflective). This medium-weight microporous-coated photobase paper has a good white point and gloss level for a wide variety of graphic applications. Lamination is recommended as with any paper products to avoid surface abrasion when handling.

2. Semi-Gloss. This medium-weight microporous-coated photobase paper has a good white point and lustrous gloss level for a wide variety of graphic applications. Lamination is also recommended to avoid surface abrasion when handling.

3. Matte (for people who just don't like any glossy surface) Removes the shiny glare.

C. Photograde Paper. This heavyweight paper-based media with a water-resistant [water-fast] coating, exhibits a very good white point with a low glare surface, contributing to dense and rich image reproduction for photographic reproduction and presentation graphics. It has exceptional dot definition.

D. Repositionable (peel it off and move it somewhere else; then peel it off again...) Self-clinging, applies quickly, easily removable.

E. Indoor Wet Strength Paper. This is a latex and nylon-fiber reinforced paper durable enough to allow for hemming and grommeting. It is a water-resistant [water-fast] product and is excellent for indoor use at trade shows, in meeting rooms and for retail displays. It is an affordable alternative for temporary outdoor event banners.

F. Proof Quality Matte Synthetic Paper. This synthetic paper offers a bright white and smooth matte surface at an affordable price. It is a good alternative to matte papers and is very lightweight with excellent print quality and durability. The product also resists wrinkling and hangs well, making it a good option for indoor or short-term outdoor graphics as it is water-resistant [water-fast].

G. Film (This is an entirely synthetic material and hence it can be made with all kinds of special properties). These specialized transparent films create a very good impact, when used on windows, on both sides of the glass. When applied over exterior windows, rooms become filled with colour as if you were looking through stained glass.

1. Backlit: This backlit film offers vibrant colour at an affordable cost-per-square-foot. It performs very well in conventional backlit applications and its water-resistant [water-fast] properties allow it to be used for some outdoor applications without concern for print deterioration from condensation. This product is designed to be reverse-imaged on the second surface and therefore, requires no lamination for standard backlit applications. It can also be mounted and laminated with pressure-sensitive adhesives.

2. Front lit: This is a Translucent White Film. This unique film is a hybrid of matte white film and traditional backlit film with an improved topcoat for indoor and outdoor durability. It is a heavyweight 9 mil film designed to be front print and displayed either front-lit or backlit for a variety of display and trade show graphic applications. It mounts and laminates very well, and has excellent indoor and outdoor life.

3. Clear (transparent) PET Film: Clear film with exceptional dot definition for high-resolution printing makes this media ideal for all types of overlays and specialty graphics. This product is water-resistant [water-fast].

H. Vinyl

1. Calendered Adhesive Backed Vinyl: This water-resistant adhesive-back vinyl is a 3.5 mil calendered vinyl with a semi-permanent adhesive. This product exhibits very good image quality and the matte surface eliminates glare. Ideally suited for long-term indoor and medium-term outdoor applications, it will provide outdoor durability of 3-6 months without lamination. The basic properties of calendered vinyl make it unsuitable for any application that requires conformance to rivets, irregular curves and indentations.

2. Mesh (Perforated) Vinyl: This is a perforated vinyl designed specifically for window graphics. With full viewable graphics image seen from the outside, it provides a see-through effect from the inside and yet screens viewing-in from the outside. This product can be used on the outside windows of convenience stores for security and also on cars, vans, trucks and buses where a see-through effect is required. Due to environmental conditions it is necessary to laminate when used with vehicles.

3. Premium Adhesive Backed Vinyl: This premium-quality 3.4 mil matte adhesive-back vinyl has a removable adhesive and is designed for a variety of graphic applications depending on the mounting substrate. It images well in a variety of print modes, but is not conformable to rivets and irregular curves or indentations. It is suitable for up to 6 months outdoors without lamination and for up to 50 months outdoors with the appropriate Lamination film.

4. Proof Quality High Gloss SemiPerm Vinyl: This brilliant white, water-resistant [water-fast] glossy vinyl is ideally suited for high-profile indoor graphics applications. The product is not suitable for use on irregular surfaces. It features a semi-permanent adhesive and has a silver back-coating to block light. Exceptional dot definition means exceptional print quality. Lamination should be provided for UV protection and surface abrasion.

5. Truck Wraps/Fleet Graphics: High quality 4.3mil and 3.8mil vinyl with permanent, acrylic adhesive made for long-term, outdoor durable application, rated for at least 3-5 years exterior durability and are able to withstand severe weather conditions when applied onto flat or curved, smooth surfaces.

I. Banners

1. Scrim PVC Banner: Based on a standard PVC scrim banner vinyl, this product is coated on one side to be Piezo Certified. This media is extremely durable, and exhibits an excellent white point and exceptional image quality. PVC scrim can be hemmed and grommeted and offers a waterproof solution for outdoor applications of 6-12 months, depending on weather and environmental conditions and the specifics of mounting.

2. Tyvek: This Tyvek-base material is water-resistant, lightweight, and outdoor durable for 3-6 months depending on mounting and weather conditions. It is easily hemmed and grommeted, and is excellent for all types of event banners. Its high white point characteristics also make it suitable for high-quality retail display applications.

3. Flame Retardant Banner: This 12 mil, 100% polyester banner cloth handles and drapes well, and is ideal for point-of-purchase and trade show graphics. It is sturdy and water-resistant [water-fast] and has a good short-term outdoor life for event banners and signage, up to 3 months, depending on application and environmental conditions. It also has an excellent white point and prints well in a variety of print modes.

J. Canvas: Canvas comes in a variety of surfaces. Canvas can be shiny or matte and can be very rough so the resolution can be low. This heavy-weight artist canvas on a 100% cotton base provides bold colour reproduction with excellent contrast characteristics. It is commonly used for photography, original artwork, fine art reproductions and banners. This product has no resistance to water.

K. Fine Art Paper: A new world of creative possibilities for a new generation of digital artists. These fine art materials offer professional quality, traditional artist’s media but with print receptive coatings. These products provide exceptional colour accuracy to satisfy even the most demanding art critics. Combine this with acid-free construction for achievability and you’ll have realistic reproductions of oil painted artwork or photographic portraits that last for years.

1. Provence Rag Fine Art Paper (Soft White). A beautiful, softly textured fine art paper, this 310 gsm product is a wonderful soft white with excellent colour output. It is also 100% cotton fibre, mould-made and is pH neutral, acid free and linen-free. This heavier weight paper is specifically engineered for wide-format inkjet printing and is water-resistant [water-fast].

2. Rag Fine Art Paper Brite White. This is an alternative second coated fine art paper specifically engineered for a wide-format inkjet printer and once again the image quality is truly impressive. The 100% cotton fibre mould-made paper features a beautiful texture and is pH neutral, acid-free and linen-free. This 256 gsm product is also water-resistant. Print permanence testing (measured at 450 lux simulating gallery conditions) is expected to yield results comparable to the Concorde Rag Natural White paper.

3. Rag Fine Art Paper (100% Cotton). A beautiful, softly textured fine art paper, this 310 gsm product is a wonderful soft white with excellent colour output. It is also 100% cotton fibre mould-made and is pH neutral, acid free and linen-free. This heavier weight paper is specifically engineered for wide-format inkjet printing and is also water-resistant.

L. Textiles: There are as many varieties of textiles to print on as all the other media put together. These are specially prepared paper-backed textiles, designed to be printed on special printers. The paper backing keeps the threads of the textiles from slipping as it feeds through the printer mechanism. The coating is the standard inkjet layer that all paper and other media require to produce the optimum colours when the image is printed.

Poly Silk Cloth: A beautiful silky polyester cloth, this product is water-resistant [water-fast] when printed with our printer. Useful for textile proofs, novelty promotional items, banners and other display graphics, this product can be gently hand-washed or dry-cleaned without any extra setting or finishing.
